System Evaluation of Vascular Laboratory

DTC's evaluation of Vascular Laboratories includes the following services:

• Visual inspection.
• kVp accuracy.
• Exposure timer accuracy.
• mR / mAs linearity.
• Exposure repeatability.
• Focal spot size.
• Radiation field / light field alignment.
• Half value thickness determination.
• Entrance skin exposure for fluoroscopic tubes.
• Fluoroscopic focus.
• Fluoroscopic resolution.
• Fluoroscopic collimator alignment.
• Entrance exposure for cine filming.
• Review of radiation safety practices.

  The services covered by DTC are those required for CLIENT to remain in substantial compliance with any and all federal, state and municipal codes regarding the safe use of diagnostic radiological equipment as well as those applicable requirements of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

  NOTE: One hour of non-patient time per x-ray tube is required for the physicist to conduct this evaluation. The vascular technologist should be available for equipment operation during the testing procedure.

  A complete and comprehensive report on the above activities will be submitted by the medical physicist in a timely manner.
