Compliance and Quality Control Testing of Pulse-Echo Ultrasound |
The intent of these tests is to monitor any long term trends in performance variables or system failures that may result in degraded image quality not yet detected in clinical images. Qualified sonographers may easily detect significant changes in the quality of images produced by a scanner; however, gradual changes are difficult if not impossible to see without first establishing a base line of values for specific parameters. These parameters may then be monitored on a regular basis and evaluated for any gradual trends which may occur over a long period of time. DTC utilizes a tissue equivalent phantom containing mock cysts, tumors, and other tissue mimicking structures. All tests will be performed using all transducers, compatible with the system being tested.
The following services are performed on all Ultrasound Systems:
A complete and comprehensive report on the above activities will be submitted by the medical physicist in a timely manner.
Note: An average of 30 minutes of non-patient time is required for the physicist to conduct this evaluation. The ultrasound technologist should be available for equipment operation during the initial part of the testing procedure.
Diagnostic Radiological Physics Services: The services provided by DTC are those required per transducer for CLIENT to remain in substantial compliance with any and all federal, state and municipal codes regarding the safe use of diagnostic equipment as well as those applicable requirements of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health care Organizations. (JCAHO, NCRP and AIUM.
