Nuclear Medicine Facility Review |
DTC will perform a quarterly evaluation of Nuclear Medicine operations. Quarterly evaluations will consist
of the following:
Basic Service:
- Determine that terms of by-product license are being followed.
- Provide assistance with by-product materials license amendments.
Monitor:
- Performance evaluations of diagnostic equipment every quarter.
- Doses Administered to patients for acceptable agreement with prescirbed doses.
- Absorbed doses of radiation in individual patients as requested by director.
- Guidelines for protecting personnel and patients from radiation.
Review:
- Personnel dosimetry for acceptable levels of radiation exposure.
- ALARA and Quality Management Programs.
- Facility monitoring of receipt, storage, preparation, and use areas for radionuclide contamination.
- Guidelines to be followed in the event of radionuclide contamination of the environment, patients,
personnel, or equipment.
- Orientation and safety in-service education program for all personnel.
Perform:
- Annual determination of dose calibrator accuracy.
- Quarterly sealed source inventory.
- Semi-annual sealed source leak test.
- Quarterly analysis of dose calibrator linearity.
- Analysis of dose calibrator geometry data.
- Quarterly check of dose calibrator consistency.
- Chi square and energy resolution tests on counting equipment.
A complete and comprehensive report on the above activities will be submitted quarterly by the medical
physicist in a timely manner.
The services covered by DTC are those required for CLIENT to remain in substantial compliance with any and
all federal, state and municipal codes regarding the safe use of by-product materials as well as those
applicable requirements of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
